The Arts Of Touch ® method

created and developed
by Ray and Clotilde Swartley

We conceived the method Arts of Touch® in order to transmit our passion of the art to communicate through touch. It is the fruit of our personal and professional experience in the domains of body work, massage, expressive movement and human development potential. To help the other in a process of relaxation through touch is a gift as it is also a source of well-being for the one that practices it. This kind of service to the other is like a meditation, and it is an art, the art of well-being.

We are convinced of the necessity to reintroduce the art of touch in our present life style. Too often neglected in the Latin culture, sometimes taboo, the touch yet belongs, for the same reason as the other senses, to man's sensory universe.
We all have in us this natural capacity to touch. With training and support of a professional team, it can be cultivated and improved.
It is not about creating something new but to contribute to the resurrection of a millennial practice that has the potential to give back to our body all its nobility, its strength to live.

Our method is holistic:

  • it invites to create more space in the body, more fluidity, opening and life
  • it stimulates the bodily sensations and awaken our sensitivity
  • it encourages a more positive relation to oneself and to others
  • it opens to a greater bodily, emotional and spiritual conscience.

Tools

The ARTS OF TOUCH massage method is a successful blend of:

- Californian massage, based on the famous Esalen massage
- Meditation practices
- Energetic rebalancing based on the Hindu science of the Chakras
- Foot and Hand massage (where there are a large concentration of acupressure and reflexology points)
- Side work massage
- Rainbowdydance A dance form that is expressive and creative

In a safe, clearly defined space, a climate of creative confidence is promoted, through dialogue between practitioner and receiver before and after the massage. The receivers are encouraged to move freely and give feedback throughout the massage.
